Top 12 FAQs for Boudoir Photography

Thinking about a boudoir session can be a little daunting, but don’t worry! I get lots of questions from women about these sessions, and I’ve compiled a list of the 12 most frequently asked questions to help you prepare and feel excited about your boudoir experience with me!

Do you share my images?

Your comfort and privacy are my top priorities, especially with boudoir photography. This experience can be transformative and nerve-wracking! Whether you’re still learning to love your body or want to keep these photos just for you or your partner, I respect your choices. You decide at the end of your session if you want to share all, some, only anonymous photos, or none at all. There’s no pressure to share your images with anyone!

Do I have to wear lingerie?

Absolutely not! Your boudoir session should reflect your personality, and there are so many outfit options beyond lingerie. Whether it’s cozy, elegant, or sporty, the choice is yours. Check out this blog post on choosing outfits for more inspiration!

Do you have payment plans?

Yes, we offer flexible payment options! You’ll need a booking retainer to secure your shoot, with the full balance due on the day of your session. If you’d like more time to pay, you can schedule your session a few months out and pay in installments. Let me know if you’re interested in setting this up—there are even bonuses for prepaying!

Is hair and makeup included?

Hair and makeup are included in all our boudoir packages! It’s a great way to pamper yourself and feel fabulous. Our talented team can create any look you want, from a natural “just woke up like this” vibe to full-on glam. Bring any ideas you have, and we’ll use them as inspiration!

Do you photoshop my images?

I do edit your images for lighting, exposure, and color balance, but I don’t alter any permanent features. It’s important to embrace who you are, and editing out parts of yourself can be harmful. If there are areas you’re learning to love, that’s okay! I’m skilled in posing and lighting to showcase your best self and highlight your unique beauty.

Where should I buy outfits?

There are plenty of places to find the perfect outfits for your session, depending on the style you’re going for. Here’s a list of different stores with various styles and sizes. If you’re looking for something specific and can’t find it, just let me know—I might have the perfect place in mind!

What type of print products do you have?

We offer a variety of products, including albums, luxury glass boxes with prints, and metal prints. The 10×10 album is our most popular choice. As one client, Amy, said about her boudoir shoot, “20 glorious glossy pages from the boudoir shoot that I flip through every chance I get. It’s a daily reminder of how much my self-image has improved.”

Do you offer digital images?

Yes, we do! You can get a digital album, and all our collections include a digital component. This might include just the images in the album or the full catalog. The digital files are delivered on a flash drive for you to view and download.

I’m freaking out! How can I calm my nerves?

Feeling nervous is totally normal and part of the experience! In fact, I’d be surprised if you weren’t a little nervous. That initial anxiety makes the moment of seeing your photos for the first time even more special. Trust me, your nerves will melt away within the first five minutes of shooting.

How many outfits should I bring?

We usually shoot with four outfits, but if you’re unsure, bring more! I’ll help you choose the best ones during your session.

Should I arrive early for my shoot?

No need to arrive too early; just be there at the scheduled time, usually 10 AM, or a few minutes before. Honestly, I’m often still sipping my tea, tidying up, and getting ready for you!

Where is your studio located?

Our studio is located on Main Street in Hartford, Wisconsin. I love the nostalgic charm of downtown Main Street, and it’s convenient too—you can park once and then explore the area, grab lunch, or check out some cute shops while you wait for your photo reveal.
